Attorney

Brett Conger, Esq. is an Associate Attorney with Shield Law Group, where he focuses his practice on Family Law and First-Party Property Litigation. Brett brings more than a decade of legal experience to his practice, along with a background that includes both plaintiff and defense-side insurance litigation and extensive experience representing clients in complex property disputes.

Brett was admitted to The Florida Bar in February 2013 after earning his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2012. He earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 2000.

Before entering the legal profession, Brett worked as a teacher at Miami Christian School, where he primarily taught middle and high school Social Studies and English courses. His experience as an educator helped develop the communication, preparation, and interpersonal skills that continue to serve as important components of his legal practice.

Brett began his legal career practicing Personal Injury Protection (PIP) litigation, initially representing plaintiffs before transitioning to the defense side, where he represented various insurance companies. In October 2017, he transitioned his practice to First-Party Property Litigation with Cardenas Law Group. He ultimately led the firm’s First-Party Property Division and was named a Partner in 2020. Brett joined Shield Law Group in June 2026.

In addition to his litigation practice, Brett is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator. His experience on both sides of insurance litigation, combined with his mediation training, provides him with a practical perspective on dispute resolution and the litigation process.

Outside of the practice of law, Brett enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending live music events, and being actively involved in his church. He has also been a diehard fan of Miami Hurricanes football since attending his first Canes game in 1989.
