Ammoie Buchanan, Esq

About

Ms. Buchanan started practicing law as an attorney representing the insurance company, and was even privileged to attend annual training provided by one of the largest property insurance companies in Florida. As such, she gained invaluable insight about how she might successfully defend and represent the policyholder’s rights. During that time, she worked closely with insurance adjusters to understand their asserted reasons for denial. She also became familiar with the various affirmative defenses raised by insurance companies. She participated in strategy determination and suggested which affirmative defenses to raise based on the facts. Additionally, she settled cases and prepared release documents for insurance companies. Now representing the insured, she is on the fulfilling journey of getting to help homeowners. With SLG expanding their practice, she also looks forward to helping workers in employment disputes and consumers alike. Prior to practicing law, as a Juris Doctor, she worked on behalf of corporate defendants, by quality-checking the responsiveness and privilege of documents being produced to Plaintiff’s counsel or governmental regulators (both US and international), during the written discovery phase. During those years, as a Juris Doctor reviewer, she gained a wide exposure to several areas of law and attended strategy and training meetings with lead corporate counsel in various sectors: which included consumer and employment law. In order to perform quality checks, she was responsible for reviewing the related complaint and request for production in great detail. Today, her experience defending the insurance company combined with her years of experience working in written discovery, which required paying close attention to detail, enables her to provide a thorough review of a case to accurately identify the strengths and weaknesses on both sides. Now as a plaintiff(s)’ attorney, this thorough review and preparation has resulted in several settlements.

Outside of litigation, Ms. Buchanan has worked as a Mergers and Acquisition Consultant, in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry. At that time, she served as an intermediary between top insurance carriers and teams of agents or individual agents with the ability to move their books of business. Although throughout her career, Ms. Buchanan represented Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies; today, Ms. Buchanan uses the skills she developed while working for big corporations to represent the interests of her clients, the denied policyholder
